Webinar | Increasing AI Literacy on Campus

This webinar is a part of the EDUCAUSE Industry Insights series.

The International Monetary Fund estimates that “almost 40% of global employment is exposed to AI.” However, the prevalence of cognitive, task-oriented jobs in advanced economies puts them at greater risk (60%) and better poised to exploit AI benefits.

This job landscape requires graduates to possess new skills and ways of thinking about how to navigate AI use in their professional lives. How can institutions support faculty and students in developing AI literacy that considers how to use these tools, as well as the importance of responsible AI development? And which campus entities, departments, and individuals need to be involved in that support and development?

Join us for a conversation with Lenovo and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill faculty and administrators about how to increase AI literacy and responsible AI development on campus. Panelists will discuss how departments are creating communities of practice around the instructional applications of generative AI, how faculty are integrating this new technology into curricula, and how, with the support of Lenovo grant funds, they are undertaking the scholarship of teaching and learning about that integration. In addition, a Lenovo data scientist will discuss the company’s pillars for responsible AI and why they are fundamental to the product development process.

Attendees will understand:

  • Key elements of AI literacy
  • Strategies for scaling AI literacy on campus
  • Key elements of responsible AI and what they look like in technology products
