Session 1: Developing a multi-layer capability curriculum for AI literacy
Presenter: David Parsons
This webinar introduces the Scaffolded AI Literacy (SAIL) framework, developed from an international Delphi study of experts from education and industry. The framework has four levels of capability, but these levels are not age- and stage-based. Rather, they provide a scaffolded pathway through levels of competency for all learners. The SAIL framework serves as a guide for educators, policymakers, and learners, and outlines the key competencies and knowledge areas necessary to navigate the complexities of AI. The webinar will cover a brief overview of the SAIL framework, including how it compares to the UNESCO framework. Taking different learner audiences into account, it will explore some illustrative examples of learning activities that can be applied at the three main levels of AI literacy. It will also introduce an online tool developed to help educators evaluate or design course materials that address level 1 of the framework.
Session 2: AI Literacies for a New Era of Learning
Presenters: Angela Gunder and Nicole Weber
Join us for a dynamic exploration of AI literacies, where we'll redefine what it means to prepare for an AI-driven future in education. Discover how a multidimensional lens—spanning cultural, creative, collaborative, critical literacies, and more—can transform how you think about AI tools, strategies, and initiatives. Sharing findings and effective practices from their work for UNESCO IITE and Shanghai Open University, the presenters will show you how to integrate these dimensions of AI literacies with existing frameworks, quality standards, and change management processes to create impactful, sustainable AI readiness strategies at any level of your institution.
