Building a Microcredential Program for Stackable Online Courses: Lessons from BI Norwegian Business

Microcredential programs offer a flexible and accessible way for learners to acquire new skills and knowledge and for institutions to respond to changing workforce demands. However, building a high-quality microcredential program is not an easy task. In this paper proposal, we will discuss the experience of BI Norwegian Business School in developing a successful microcredential program. We will outline the steps we took to create stackable online courses and short learning modules and look at how to align a sector on a solution when no common standard exists. We will look at how using international partnerships can mitigate risks in pioneering solutions for learners. We will also provide practical tools and resources to support the development and scaling of microcredentialing initiatives.
