Nontraditional Students: How to Attract, Enroll, and Support the New Norm

Wednesday, October 18, 2023 | 10:10AM–10:50AM ET
Session Type: Industry Led
Delivery Format: Live Session

Today, nontraditional learners, such as adults or students with full-time jobs, account for roughly 40% of the undergraduate population. These career-minded learners are looking to enroll at institutions that offer skills-based curriculum and programs that can help them advance in their careers. As this nontraditional demographic is only growing and will soon represent the majority of undergraduates enrolled, how can institutions implement modern technology solutions and academic programming to give them the in-demand skills and experiences they need to succeed professionally? In this session, leaders from Southeastern University, Southwestern Community College, and Hill College will explore how they are using e-commerce solutions to create workforce development and other alternative programs, enroll more nontraditional learners, and give them the skills required to succeed professionally. They’ll discuss their respective journeys, lessons learned, and best practices uncovered so that their experiences act as a roadmap for other institutions looking to bridge the education-employment divide and draw more learners to campus.
