Shattering the Glass Ceiling: Navigating the Landscape of Leadership as a Woman

Wednesday, November 13 | 1:00PM–1:45PM ET
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Live Session

Female Chief Information Officers (CIOs) at the City University of New York (CUNY) are a rarity and being successful in this role can sometimes be challenging. This panel discussion will include CIOs from four CUNY colleges: The College of Staten Island, Lehman College, New York City College of Technology, and Bronx Community College. Panelists will share their experiences and provide advice on their career roadmaps. In addition, these female leaders will provide insight on how they successfully navigated a male-dominant field.

Key topics will include stereotyping, compensation, navigating work-life balance, emotional support strategies, and favoritism, just to name a few. Participants will learn from stories and actual events that will provide further insight into how female leaders, regardless of their fields, can be empowered and gain insight on how to make sure their female voice is heard. This panel will be interactive, using polling technology that will allow participants to also provide feedback on experiences encountered during their professional careers. Group discussion will be encouraged, and attendees will be able to share their stories on how they can relate to the panel’s experiences and scenarios.
