We’re All In: A Holistic Approach to the Safe and Scaled Adoption of AI at the UW-Milwaukee

Thursday, November 14, 2024 | 11:00AM–11:45AM ET
Session Type: Poster Session
Delivery Format: Virtual Poster Session
In March 2024, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee launched an initiative to create a portfolio of AI services for the campus during the fall of 2024. These services were introduced to support a variety of populations and use cases to democratize access to these technologies in a safe and responsible way. In this session, we’ll discuss the process for how we identified, sought resources, and created this initial portfolio through an AI task force. This body consisted of six workgroups which captured use cases, defined AI literacy needs, developed the proposal which created this portfolio, and established recommendations to responsibly offer and consume these services using a variety of data types. The AI task force also actively engaged the campus community to promote awareness and actively drew upon campus expertise to shape these outcomes. And it established the groundwork for future governance which will guide the future of this portfolio and how we promote safe adoption of these technologies. Please join us as we share with you our journey to deliver these services and help guide what comes next.
