Do units tell you that centralized IT can’t fully address their unique needs? Do you often see units running duplicate services resulting in inefficiencies, missed opportunities for better licensing costs, and increased risk, whether it be cybersecurity, data privacy, or employee skillset? Have you tried implementing an approach to bring central IT personnel into individual university departments but did not find success? Consider the best of both worlds; a federated approach to build trust and promote the use of centrally provided IT services while still allowing departments to maintain ownership of IT resources and pursue their unique needs. During this session, we will cover FSU’s Information Technology Administration Partnership Program (ITAPP). ITAPP is an Information Technology Services (ITS) outreach program created in 2006 to help departments deal with the challenges of managing information technology resources.
Today, our program currently supports 21 departments, with approximately 90 employees affiliated with the program. While our IT professionals are aligned with central IT, we fine-tuned our program to address their mission unique aspects to create a flexible approach for our partners. In this session, you will learn the crucial success factors for deploying such a program at your institution to bring a hybrid approach to IT support. It’s a win-win for everyone!
