In 2024, the Department of Justice released new regulations for Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) addressing technology/digital accessibility. These new rules apply to all public institutions of higher education. Most schools will have fewer than two years to comply with the new regulations. The new rules apply across course content, websites and applications, mobile apps, and more. For some campuses, following these new rules might seem like a continuation of ongoing accessibility efforts with raised compliance stakes. For many institutions, especially those that have not invested in an accessibility strategy, the coming years will require amplified focus and effort. This session will share essential updates from the new accessibility regulations. Presenters will provide recommendations and resources applicable to institutional strategies, IT leaders and accessibility professionals. Learn from leaders who have been enacting campus-wide strategies in digital accessibility for many years.
