Moving GenAI from Curiosity to Core

Tuesday, October 22, 2024 | 1:45PM–2:30PM CT | Meeting Room 206, Second Level
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Industry Led

Although GenAI hype is at a peak, the conversation is still largely theoretical. Examples of GenAI at scale are still rare in higher ed. How can universities go beyond tinkering and isolated use cases to really embed GenAI and realize its promised benefits?

A strong digital core is the essential foundation for scaling GenAI, without which all the pilots would topple. In this session, we will hear from higher ed CIOs about the building blocks necessary for this foundation, including modern applications and data infrastructure and how they are laying them.

The panel will be moderated by Accenture’s Lead for Generative AI in Education, Eyal Darmon. He will share insights on the tools to enable the digital core, including the data architecture and model garden tools. He will be joined by Chris Sedore, Vice President and CIO of Boston University; Ginger Breon, Interim CIO, The Ohio State University; and Sreekanth Bhagyanagar, Chief Enterprise Data Architect, UT Austin.

The session will be both informative and engaging. We encourage participants to bring questions to the discussion and leave equipped with tactical steps they can take back to their institutions to further the digital core and their AI goals.
