Navigating Remote Leadership: The Ups, Downs, and Sideways!

In 2022, relocating from Virginia to my native Texas was unavoidable. While the prospect of job hunting filled me with dread, the anticipation of a new chapter was intense. Unexpectedly, by 2023, I remained in my role as an instructional designer, but with a twist—I embraced full-time remote work, a first for our team. I was grateful for the opportunity; an organizational overhaul occurred, and I earned a promotion to instructional design manager. Unlike my colleagues, I operated remotely, relying solely on technology for connection. How could I effectively manage a team when I was the only one working 100% remotely? In this presentation, I'll share insights on effective communication through diverse channels and leveraging technology to bridge distances.
