The University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) launched a Security Fellowship program. At its core, the program is focused on developing an internal talent pipeline by providing real-world experience in the cybersecurity field while at the same time helping the college tackle a variety of security tasks and projects. The program provides interested IT staff with a five-month rotation within the LSA security team, where they are paired with senior security professionals to learn best practices and security philosophy alongside the specific tools and processes to address security concerns. This session will cover the journey from proposal through implementation and include successes and lessons learned. It will also cover strategies for engagement with IT teams within a unit and central IT providers, program structure, and feedback from the fellowship participants.
