The Power of Partnerships to Advance GenAI Integration in Higher Education

The natural synergies in data collection efforts between Institutional Research, Information Technology, and Faculty Development create a powerful framework through which higher education professionals can better understand the holistic student and faculty experience. Intentional and sustained collaborations between academic and administrative units, along with key vendors enable us to measure and act on dynamic campus perceptions. In this session, we will review an interdisciplinary methodology for designing and deploying a validated GenAI survey instrument. Next, we will discuss how we used Qualtrics, a leading enterprise survey administration tool, to efficiently implement narrowcasting protocols while distributing this survey to more than 40,000 students and instructors. Live demonstrations will also be incorporated, highlighting the tool's practical application of enhanced GenAI features designed to optimize data-informed decision-making within higher education.Last, we will share the results of the survey, which have informed the establishment of modern technology integration guidelines related to effective instructional integration, ethical technology use, and evidence-based policy development. This collaborative endeavor will showcase how institutional and vendor-based partnerships both facilitate the creation of a robust baseline for GenAI integration, while also paving the way for effective instructional design, informed decision-making and strategic planning.
