Learning Experience

The Learning Lab experience is supported by both asynchronous and synchronous components. Each Learning Lab sequence includes a set of resources, an asynchronous discussion, and an interactive live session, all of which culminate in the development of a project or application to apply learning to local and specific contexts in support of the learning objectives.

Schedule

Welcome Session

November 7, 2022, 1:00–2:00 p.m. ET

This is a live session to learn the details of the Learning Lab, the Canvas site, and expectations for the microcredential. There will also be time to get to know your fellow Lab partners and facilitator.

Learning Cycle 1: Tease Out What Matters, and Understand What Splatters

November 9, 2022, 1:00–2:30 p.m. ET

Explore the types of pressing changes facing higher education today, and examine examples of successful (and not so successful) changes attempted at institutions. We'll explore characteristics resulting in success and failure and learn how to recognize and prioritize elements that can be controlled or influenced, while navigating those that cannot.

Learning Cycle 2: Change Leader Chops: What's in Your Toolbox?

November 16, 2022, 1:00–2:30 p.m. ET

Which levers of influence are appropriate for the change you're looking to initiate? Discover which leadership skills are most critical when bringing change to the table and how to best leverage the skills you already bring, and look to develop a few competencies for your change leadership toolbox.

Review and Reflect Session

November 23, 2022, 1:00–2:30 p.m. ET

The Learning Lab will conclude with an application or implementation project (described below) and a closing live session to review and process the learning from the lab.

Lab Implementation Project

Dive deep into a real (or imagined) change initiative, and create an actionable plan that leverages your unique skills and institutional landscape. Use and build upon this project and the skills you've acquired as a template for successfully addressing changes in your role in the future.
