Learning Experience

The Learning Lab experience is supported by both asynchronous and synchronous components. Each Learning Lab sequence includes a set of resources, an asynchronous discussion, and an interactive live session, all of which culminate in the development of a project or application to apply learning to local and specific contexts in support of the learning objectives.

Welcome Session

June 2, 2022, 1:00–2:00 p.m. ET

This is a live session to learn the details of the Learning Lab, the Canvas site, and expectations for the microcredential. There will also be time to get to know your fellow Lab partners and facilitator.

Learning Cycle 1: I want to create an XR research project. Now what?

June 7, 2022, 1:00–2:30 p.m. ET

In this session, participants will explore the different questions and studies that have been conducted and discuss the workflow for creating an XR research project. We will address the different methodologies and approaches to forming the study and identify the major components to creating a research team.

Learning Cycle 2: Designing the Research

June 14, 2022, 1:00–2:30 p.m. ET

In this session, participants will explore the technologies that can support their research project and discuss options to either build the experience from scratch or look for a packaged solution. They will discuss the use of different assets and technologies that could assist in designing their experience.

Review and Reflect Session

June 21, 2022, 1:00–2:30 p.m. ET

The Learning Lab will conclude with an application or implementation project (described below) and a closing live session to review and process the learning from the lab.

Lab Implementation Project

The Implementation Project will be a presentation of the research workflow example. Participants will work through the different XR prompts and components to create a research proposal that could be submitted to their institution’s IRB.
