At the University of South Carolina, we’ve undertaken a multiyear project to include students in all aspects of our security services. In this talk, we’ll cover how we’re using technology to rapidly teach concepts to students, get them working on real-world alerting in their first week, and raise the bar for what’s possible as a “tier one” analyst in a Security Operations Center. We’ll touch on developing SOAR processes to act as a technical mentor through enrichment, measuring where you need to measure, and teaching people how to think as analysts.
