Hands-on Assessing Risks and Prioritizing Topics for Your Cybersecurity Training and Awareness

Thursday, May 02, 2024 | 11:45AM–12:45PM CT | Lakeshore, First Floor
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Facilitated Discussion

Cybersecurity training and awareness programs have grown to cover so much more than just phishing. A robust cybersecurity training program could touch on many topics: everything from secure coding to physical workplace security and using AI safely, to name just a few examples. How do you cover so many topics without overwhelming your users with too much or irrelevant information? We will work in small groups in this facilitated discussion session to create a custom cybersecurity training and awareness schedule. We'll build out a list of training topics and share a tool to identify the issues and risks most important to address on your campus. We'll use the prioritized list to outline a 12-month campaign designed to deliver the most impactful messages at the right time. After this session, you will have acquired experience performing a human risk assessment to create a cybersecurity training and awareness schedule. You can use these methods and ideas to perform this exercise with stakeholders on your own campus.
