Licensing Privacy: User Data and Third-Party Information Service Providers

Friday, May 03, 2024 | 8:30AM–9:15AM CT | Northstar Ballroom A, Second Floor
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation/Panel Session
The Licensing Privacy initiative, made possible in part by a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, aims to improve how campuses can leverage licensing terms to advocate for user data privacy. Informed by the priorities and perspectives of leadership, two practical guides: “The Vendor Contract and Policy Rubric” and "Electronic Resource Authentication and Authorization" are informing licensing practices. The rubric is particularly useful for evaluating how well a given vendor platform follows privacy guidelines, standards, and best practices and for advocating for privacy during vendor selection and contract negotiation.
