Preconference Workshop
This educational workshop covers the history and importance of privacy and data ethics, with particular attention to modern data practices and their impacts on current events, society, and personhood. Beyond data privacy, learners will develop a deeper understanding of bodily/intimacy privacy, territorial privacy, communication privacy, and surveillance capitalism. We will cover key privacy principles and talk about privacy laws applicable to higher education (as well as the gaps we need to mind!). We will conclude with practical steps to take to protect the data we manage at work and to protect our own privacy in the world.
