The Lesson of the Golden Trowel: A Response to a Cyber Event

Friday, May 03, 2024 | 8:30AM–9:15AM CT | Regency, Second Floor
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation/Panel Session
What would you do if you learned from three federal agencies and on social media that your university was the target of a cybersecurity incident and listed on a TOR leak site? Our school experienced this directly and we can describe it as both electrifying and terrifying. Our presenters will share detection, response, remediations, and lessons learned, and amazingly what we were able to accomplish in a very short period in response to a ransomware call to arms. The session will also solicit significant audience feedback and participation to gain insight and inform the ideal action list and next steps for any security program.
