Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation/Panel
Threat Hunting. It sounds hard. It sounds like you need to be an expert to do it well. It sounds expensive. It sounds like something a single network traffic analyst/unicorn does all alone in a dark room somewhere. Completely false. You (and your entire IT/Security team) can be threat hunters. For free. Today. Best part? You can bring your entire network and security team along with you and everyone can become a cohesive threat-hunting team for the ages (if only your supervisor provides refreshments and snacks). You can use best-in-class tools that are world-renowned, all without a single day of "threat-hunting" experience?just some familiarity with network traffic and packets, and you're good to go. I will show you how to: 1.) Analyze network traffic at scale with data your network devices are already producing, but you're likely not watching (but you can, for free). 2.) Methodically analyze packets together as a team and build your collective understanding of what "normal" looks like, all while highlighting what isn't (giving you hints at what to dig deeper into). 3.) Process network packets in new ways and produce new insights into what is "really happening" on your network. Everything I will show you is free; you just need the motivation to download each one, set it up, and learn some basic commands to use them (to get started). Attend and become a threat hunter today. I will teach you.
