Presentation/Panel
Join the University of Maryland's Chief Privacy and Security Officers as they discuss how UMD reduced its data liability by over $5M. They will describe their efforts to remove high-risk data from unapproved cloud storage systems by performing the "verify" step in the ordinary "trust, but verify" behavioral control model. The UMD CISO/CPO team will be joined by Kyle Kurdziolek, VP of BigID, the next-generation Privacy Enhancing Technology that UMD used as a Data Loss Prevention tool to scan its enterprise cloud storage environments. The panel will discuss tips and tricks for socializing these efforts with campus stakeholders, lessons learned in implementation and execution of the project, and UMD's roadmap for continuing efforts.
