When You Get the Call: Examples of Urgent Proposal Requests

This scenario sounds outrageous, but it happens: During lunch on Tuesday, you get a high priority e-mail saying that you need to submit an outline for a multimillion dollar educational innovation budget by the end of the day. There is a chance that the board of trustees will fund it if it's reasonable and aligned with the president's new initiatives. Get to work! The session leaders and participants will share examples of "urgent proposals" requested to meet budget, grant, donor, or other deadlines. These can be expansive (new funding for new projects) or constrictive (need to cut operational or compensation dollars). Either way, you should be prepared to form the right team, get to work, and produce a recommendation that may shape your next decade at work.
