AI on Campus: Building a Movement, Not Just a Policy
As artificial intelligence continues to transform higher education, institutions must navigate not only the technical implementation of AI but also the cultural shifts it demands. This session explores how to create a sense of urgency around responsible AI use—not by policing behaviors, but by fostering trust, transparency, and shared values. Learn how one institution mobilized a cross-campus “volunteer army” to build AI capacity and bench strength in the face of limited budgets, drawing on internal talent and passion to drive innovation. We'll discuss strategies for scaffolded change integration that bridge the gap between enthusiastic early adopters and AI skeptics, creating space for experimentation while supporting thoughtful resistance. The session will also highlight a collaborative project to design AI-friendly assignments, moving beyond basic AI literacy toward sustainable, program-level curricular transformation. Through stories, tools, and frameworks, participants will gain actionable insights into leading inclusive, ethical, and effective AI integration across their institutions.
