Wednesday, January 31, 2018 | 10:15AM–11:00AM CT | Preservation Hall, Second Floor
Session Type: Poster Session
Delivery Format: Poster Session
One year ago, Pearson Education approached Bryn Mawr College about partnering to explore potential academic applications of the Microsoft HoloLens. In keeping with Bryn Mawr College's mission of preparing young women to be leaders in fields that have historically excluded them, we created a series of augmented/virtual reality internships in which students build digital competencies and professional skills while developing an educational app for the HoloLens. The AR/VR internships are examples of how colleges might think beyond the classroom and capitalize on student interest in emerging technologies to further strategic educational goals.

Outcomes: Think creatively about leveraging intrainstitutional partnerships to create cocurricular opportunities for students to explore emerging technologies * Relate emerging technology opportunities to the mission and/or strategic initiatives of your institution * Define the logistical resources (hardware, software, and staff expertise) needed to create an AR/VR program at your institution
