Are you avoiding enhancing or replacing existing applications because replacement is costly or available vendor solutions do not match your requirements? Wesleyan's internal portal, the E-Portfolio, was recently replaced with WesPortal. Both are custom applications, but WesPortal leveraged several key standards and open frameworks that allowed us to develop and deploy it within a year. This session will explore the decision-making process that went into going custom, as well as the how and why of its success.
