The CAS development team at Connecticut College has created a series of interrupts within the Centralized Authentication Service (CAS) that has been highly successful in collecting necessary information from the campus community. We use this method to collect emergency contact information from students and employees, as well as from enrolling students before they come to campus. We do this by intercepting the login process and presenting the forms before they can access any single sign-on system like email. Other such interrupts include the Acceptable Use Policy, security Q/A pairs, preferred name, and required password changes. We'd like to demonstrate and share.
Outcomes: Understand the value of login interception to collect critical information * Obtain and leverage this type of technology at your institution (using free CAS and our code) * Decide if this method for collecting information and handling aspects of password management is a good fit for your institution
