Unmanned aerial systems, or drones, can be a powerful tool for teaching and learning. Many institutions are just starting to navigate the complex web of federal, state, and local regulations to advance the technology and its applications for teaching and research. In this session, you will learn from our experiences of starting a drone program from the ground up. Specifically, we'll cover the process of creating a campus policy, obtaining a remote pilot's license, and incorporating drones into coursework and research.
Outcomes: Gain an understanding of the complexities of the FAA drone regulations as they apply to higher education and campus policies * Explore applications and uses of drones for teaching and research * Discover resources and links to explore as you develop your own program
