Major faculty development efforts often take the form of multi-day intensive institutes or workshops that rely on synchronous work and face time for results. However, even in a fully remote or hybrid format, an intensive synchronous training is in and of itself automatically inaccessible to a number of faculty. This is especially a problem when the topic of the training is accessibility and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). This demonstration will outline how the Accessible Dartmouth Initiative’s leadership team put UDL theory into practice via the collaborative development of an open educational UDL workbook and self-paced Canvas course for faculty (and faculty developers).
