Play, Learn, IMPACT: Exploring Tech's Role in Communities via Card Gameplay!

Tuesday, March 26, 2024 | 8:30AM–9:15AM ET | Room 551 AB
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Demonstration
As artificial intelligence is increasingly used by those like Jefry, a 43-year-old farmer from Huancayo, Peru, what is the impact on society? This is just one of more than 27,000 scenarios that you can draw from our IMPACT deck, accessible via iOS, Android, online, and in print format. Penn State’s Teaching and Learning with Technology set out to create an activity that introduces students to emerging technologies and ended up with an experience that challenges users to view technologies through different perspectives and discuss how these technologies impact societies all around the world. In this session, attendees will be introduced to IMPACT, the team behind the idea, and discover how they can implement it at their institutions. The presenter(s) will facilitate a live play session where the attendees will discover how it can be used for teaching and learning through small-group, hands-on play. Come learn how you can use IMPACT at your institution to encourage DEI conversations and challenge students to think critically about how technology is impacting the world we live in.
