In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, colleges and universities have faced significant challenges supporting students who require accommodations. Many of these issues continue to be relevant today. With the recent Department of Justice updates to Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act regarding the requirement for accessible web content, it is essential that digital course materials are equitable and accessible for all students. This presentation will share our experience addressing accessibility issues within the Canvas learning management system (LMS), with a specific focus on its use with screen readers. The insights gained and the strategies employed to ensure that instructional content is inclusive and accessible to all students, regardless of ability, will be highlighted. Attendees can look forward to gaining valuable knowledge about effective methods, as well as our ongoing efforts to train both faculty and students to navigate and overcome these accessibility challenges.
