Enhancing Researcher Support and Collaboration through a Personalized Chatbot Experience

In today’s data-driven medical research environment, efficient access to health care data and high-performance computing (HPC) resources is essential. Yet researchers often struggle to navigate these resources effectively, resulting in underutilized tools and missed opportunities for impactful research. To address this, we developed an AI-powered chatbot that provides a self-service portal, guiding users intuitively through our diverse resources. By leveraging users’ service histories, research productivity, and collaboration patterns, the chatbot creates dynamic profiles that enable personalized support and foster increased resource utilization, deeper collaborations, and improved research outputs. In this presentation, we will provide details of our chatbot’s development and demonstrate how AI-driven personalization enhances resource navigation and accelerates medical research. Attendees will gain insights into common challenges in resource access and discover practical strategies to implement AI solutions that maximize research impact. Our approach can serve as a model for institutions that seek innovative ways to support their researchers and optimize resource accessibility. Our effort aligns with the EDUCAUSE mission to advance higher education through the use of IT, demonstrating how thoughtful, data-driven solutions can transform academic research support.
