Session Type: Preconference Workshop
Delivery Format: Additional Fee Program

For institutional attendees only

As higher education institutions adapt to new student expectations, tighter budgets, and increasing competition for grant funding, there's growing pressure to innovate faster and leaner. Doing so requires that you develop your people, evolve your processes and, in many cases, think differently about how to meet your mission. In this interactive, half-day workshop we’ll share Working Backwards, Amazon's customer-centric process of discovery and invention that leads to innovative breakthroughs. This session is designed for higher education IT, academic and administrative leaders, staff, and other key stakeholders across your institution, and it offers a mix of collaborative exercises and higher education case studies. At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will receive an assessment tool to benchmark and chart their cloud journeys, access to AWS subject-matter experts, and follow-on resources to continue learning about Working Backwards.

Outcomes

  • Learn and apply key principles from the Working Backwards process
  • Explore case studies featuring higher education institutions that have innovated using this process
  • Develop an understanding of how this approach can help your institution address challenges and capitalize on opportunities
  • Find out how cloud innovation can transform the student experience, improve research outcomes, and drive community engagement
