This is a survey of key privacy legislation that impacts higher education, covering personal information in records related to students, finances, HR, research participants, and patients. We will cover the intersectionality of FERPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and the Common Rule, as well as state and foreign laws. We will also cover key privacy principles that are instrumental in compliance with all of these laws.
