Data security is a shared responsibility, or so that is our motto at Wellesley. But enrolling the entire administrative staff and faculty in two-factor authentication (2FA) with Duo was not as straightforward as originally imagined. We will discuss the inherent challenges in implementing a mandate at an institution where mandates are uncommon, along with strategies for supporting personal versus college devices and rolling out a service without disrupting business continuity or instruction. We'll share our lessons learned with how we "sold" the message, and how the mandate integrates into our greater campus awareness about our individual responsibilities to protect college data.
Outcomes: Understand the purpose of 2FA in today's security landscape and how it can integrate into existing higher ed support models * Explore strategies to implement 2FA at your institution * Apply our lessons learned to better serve your users and protect institutional data
