Effectively managing campus communication from IT can be a challenge, and "fake news" spreads quickly. In the event of unexpected downtime, those first minutes are crucial for IT teams to identify the issue, craft a clear message, and get it out to the right people. This session will cover how the IT Communications Team evolved at Emerson College. We'll reveal some of the tools we use for both emergency and planned communications and share lessons learned after three years of evolution, from haggling over the Oxford comma to building a trusted Emerson IT "brand."

Outcomes: Learn how timely communication with a consistent tone and brand builds trust with stakeholders and constituents * Understand the importance of an inclusive, team-based approach to communication * Empower everyone on your team to participate in the process of drafting effective campus communications
