Quality Matters: What Is the Effect?

Tuesday, March 27 | 8:30AM–9:15AM ET | Room 551
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Interactive Presentation
Has the Quality Matters (QM) online course design strategy made a difference at Framingham State? We will share four lessons learned from a 2016 assessment that confirmed the benefits for faculty and students alike. More than 60 faculty have participated in professional development to implement the rubric, and 22 courses have met the QM standards, according to an internal faculty-centered peer review. We will also explain how we constructed the assessment, summarize how we are using it to advocate for support, and share how it is helping us to improve the quality of online course offerings at Framingham State.

Outcomes: Explore the main characteristics of the QM course design framework * Design a similar type of assessment to measure the effectiveness of online teaching and learning * Implement a survey-based assessment of a professional development framework on your campus
