VCU School of Medicine's Workplace-Based Assessment Tool

Wednesday, March 28 | 9:30AM–10:15AM ET | Room 552
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Interactive Presentation
Though medical students learn under supervision, formal evaluation is often scant. Workplace-based assessment (WBA) lets educators measure performance in domains similar to students' future professional environments. This session will cover the design, implementation and delivery of a new evaluation tool that leverages the WBA approach in a UME clinical setting. We will discuss cross-disciplinary collaboration, elicitation of users' and stakeholders' needs, and iterative system design. We will also present a model for integration and visualization of evaluation data.

Outcomes: Explore the benefits of WBA in clinical education * Describe the design and development process of a WBA-based tool * Understand the integration options and data visualization possibilities of assessment data
