NERCOMP Mentorship: A Program Like You’ve Never Seen Before!

What is mentoring? While the concept of mentoring is not new to higher education, most people picture the classic one-on-one connection between an experienced leader and an employee when they think of mentoring programs. Even though this is a common type of program, the “human experience” of a meaningful mentoring relationship can take many forms and be tailored to meet the needs of participants in a variety of ways to enhance professional development and personal growth. In the Summer of 2022, NERCOMP formed a Mentorship Program Development Task Force to begin the development of a mentoring program with a unique approach to engagement, in an effort to meet the changing needs of information technology professionals at all angles.
