Using Student Employees to Supercharge Professional Staff
Student employees are not uncommon on college campuses, but they are often given unskilled or low-skill work, such as staffing the circulation desk or making copies. What happens when we give student employees higher-skill positions, and how can they augment the often overworked professional staff? At Kenyon College, student employees are employed across campus to handle things from helpdesk duties to advanced network equipment configuration and integration development for production databases.
