Webinar | Anti-Racism in Academia: A Learning Journey - Reflections

In response to the dialogue across EDUCAUSE community groups and within our personal lives, a small group of community leaders have developed the Anti-Racism in Academia: A Learning Journey (ARiA) program. It is a discussion series organized into five parts: Reach Out, Listen, Learn, Act, Persist.

The ARiA series was created to cultivate a more compassionate and informed community in higher education by engaging professionals of all levels and across disciplines and inspiring them to act towards building a more inclusive culture. Combatting racism on a personal, professional, and communal scale requires time and intentional effort; it really is a journey of discovery and understanding.

ARIA concludes it's inaugural program with an event designed to create space for reflections. The ARiA team will share stories about the iterative development of the program and it's unanticipated success. More notably, we will hear from facilitators and attendees about their experiences and the impact of the program in their own spheres.

Outcomes

We want to enable participants to get the most out of their learning journey. We designed the ARiA framework to accomplish three main goals:

  • Share the story of ARiA from inception to conclusion of the inaugural program.
  • Learn about the ARiA experience from both the facilitator and attendee perspective.
  • Hear about what's next for ARiA in 2021
