What’s on the Accessibility Horizon and How to Prepare for It
Colleges and universities must comply with a swath of digital accessibility regulations in the coming years, and many are unprepared for the changes they’ll need to make. Current regulations require compliance by April 2026 for some institutions and April 2027 for others. Although these regulations and deadlines may shift based on the priorities of the new presidential administration, bringing digital materials into compliance is important for our institutions to ensure that ALL students can access the same information, use the same services, and engage in the same interactions.
Join this conversation to learn more about what IT departments might expect in the coming years, how to plan for compliance in an uncertain environment, and steps you can start taking to support your students, faculty, and staff.
Learning outcomes:
- Become familiar with regulations related to digital accessibility.
- Begin defining tangible steps for complying with accessibility requirements.
- Understand the importance of accessibility practices and their impact on student learning.
- Identify strategies to educate your community to improve foundational accessibility knowledge and practices.
