Webinar | Building a Modern Campus Network
This webinar is a part of the EDUCAUSE Industry Insights series.
Higher education institutions are facing growing pressure on their networks as device counts rise, hybrid learning expands, and research activity increases. Many campuses still rely on reactive troubleshooting, making it difficult for IT teams to stay ahead of demand. This session explores how CIOs can adopt a holistic and future-focused connectivity strategy that brings together academic, research, and administrative stakeholders to align network modernization with long-term institutional goals.
The University of North Dakota (UND) provides a practical case study. Although UND’s network was functional, it had evolved into a patchwork of updates made over many years. By reassessing the institution's research ambitions, its vision for teaching and learning, and its 10-year institutional trajectory, leaders at UND determined that shifting to a modern and fully managed network was essential groundwork for the future. Attendees will learn how proactive planning improves reliability, reduces recurring issues, and strengthens the digital experience across campus.
Learning Outcomes:
- Understand how to evaluate campus network gaps and long-term connectivity needs.
- Learn how to align network modernization with academic, research, and operational priorities.
- Gain insights from UND’s transition to a fully managed model.
- Learn strategies for collaborating with campus stakeholders to create a holistic connectivity roadmap.
- Identify steps institutions can take now to prepare their networks for the next decade.
