Higher education runs on the LMS. But what happens when that system goes down or the data inside becomes inaccessible? As colleges and universities deepen their reliance on these platforms, many are re-evaluating how they protect, retain, and access LMS data outside of the production environment. Recent security concerns tied to the ShinyHunters-related breach impacting parts of the Instructure ecosystem reinforce the importance of operational continuity, data resilience, and independent access to critical LMS data.
In this session, San Diego State University and K16 Solutions will share how SDSU leveraged Scaffold DataX to establish governed access to Canvas course and student engagement data outside the production LMS environment. Attendees will learn how SDSU's student engagement and tracking initiative evolved into a broader strategy focused on governance, continuity, analytics, and AI-ready institutional data.
