3D Printers as Sketchbooks: A Guide to Tangible Iterative Design

Thursday, November 01, 2018 | 9:45AM–10:30AM MT | Meeting Room 507
Session Type: Industry Led
Delivery Format: Industry and Campus-Led Session
We will discuss how to integrate analog and digital tools in product development, based on a recent industrial design course. These methods illustrate how to easily and iteratively integrate software (CAD and 3D scanning) and hardware (3D printing) tools for the design, testing, refinement, and fabrication of consumer product concepts.

Outcomes: Understand how to integrate software (CAD) and hardware (3D printing) tools into project-based courses * Discover methods for translating design models between digital and physical environments * Discuss how the use of visualization and fabrication tools improve education in design, engineering, and beyond
