Open web annotation, as standards-compliant and interoperable technology, can enable next generation digital learning environments (NGDLEs) both as an essential component enhancing student engagement and collaboration and as an underlying infrastructure enabling applications to integrate with content in multiple locations and collect learning data on student interactions across various contexts.

Outcomes: Utilize open web annotation functionality in both open and LMS learning contexts * Design courses and learning activities that leverage OWA as part of NGDLE design * Participate in envisioning, developing, and researching the future of OWA-enabled NGDLEs
