US research and education ecosystem infrastructure requirements are rapidly evolving to include not only advanced networks but also cloud interconnect, research platform support, software API support, and self-service automation features. Internet2 and community partners have been working with CIOs, regional and state network leaders, engineers, architects, security experts, and industry partners to discuss innovative ideas and concepts for future infrastructure investments to support the next generation of the Internet2 infrastructure. We're working with a series of community-led proof-of-concept pilots and starting detailed planning for initial investments. We'll share lessons learned, current plans for 2019, and next steps.
