Transforming IT Culture Through Creativity and Idea Generation

Friday, November 02 | 8:00AM–8:45AM MT | Mile High Ballroom 2C/3C, Ballroom Level
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Interactive Presentation
Campus and System IT organizations spend a great deal of time cooperating with each other and the departments they serve, not necessarily collaborating on innovative solutions to IT challenges. The unseen forces that keep us from collaborating include fear of failure, lack of candor, and unwillingness to put individual needs aside. Using Pixar's approach to cultivating an exceptional brand, learn a strategy that drives creativity and creates powerful relationships across project teams. This shared project between University of Colorado Boulder campus IT, CU System IT and Teibel Education Consulting generated six cross-functional projects to impact university-wide delivery of services and programs. The process includes integrating collaboration tools developed at Pixar, brainstorming and conducting an incubator session and then delivering live pitches to university and division leaders. Come learn how CU transformed their IT department and how you can orient your teams to develop big ideas and create transformed relationships between campus and system groups.

Outcomes: Learn a non#8211;higher ed methodology to bring creativity to your organization * Inspire your organization to bring a different lens to solving problems through cross-functional idea generation * Change the cultural mindset from "We've always done it this way" to "Why not try something different?"
