The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence presents both opportunities and challenges for higher education. At Marshall University, we recognized AI's potential to transform teaching, learning, and operations, sparking the development of a comprehensive strategy and action plan. Our journey began with interdisciplinary research into AI’s implications and possibilities, followed by extensive stakeholder engagement. Through workshops and consultations with faculty, staff, students, and community partners, we ensured that diverse perspectives shaped our strategy. Guiding principles emerged to address equity, academic integrity, and ethical AI use. Actionability has been central to our approach. We developed a detailed plan with specific initiatives, such as integrating AI tools into curricula, enhancing faculty training, and exploring AI-driven administrative solutions. Ethics and inclusivity have remained top priorities, focusing on data privacy and bias awareness to foster responsible AI adoption.This poster outlines Marshall University’s strategic development process, highlighting lessons learned, challenges faced, and tangible outcomes. By sharing our experience we aim to inspire other institutions to embrace AI’s potential to drive educational innovation.
