Business Cases That Secure Funding and Build Trust (separate registration is required)

Monday, October 27, 2025 | 8:00AM–11:30AM CT | Meeting Room 207 CD, Level 2
Session Type: Preconference Workshop
Delivery Format: Additional Fee Program

With the fast pace of technology, strained resources, and competing priorities, how do you build support and secure funding for your initiative? During this session, you will strengthen your business acumen by outlining a business case for one of your initiatives, including a stakeholder map, expected outcomes, financial impact, and strategies to address people impact. Success is achieved by speaking executive language—benefits realization, total cost of ownership, risk management—to ensure your initiative gains the necessary support and funding.

Outcomes of this workshop:

  • Create a stakeholder map and define engagement approach including change management roles.
  • Identify the problem statement and outline the expected outcomes of the initiative, incorporating people impact considerations.
  • Build a financial story for a proposal incorporating efficiency, total cost of ownership, and return on investment.

Note: Participants who successfully complete this preconference workshop will be eligible to receive an EDUCAUSE microcredential. To earn this digital badge, you must complete a brief workshop evaluation and share two key learning outcomes from your experience. All registered participants will receive an email on October 29 with instructions for completing these steps. Completion of both is required. To learn how to accept and make the most of your microcredential, visit the EDUCAUSE Microcredential website.
