Wednesday, October 29, 2025 | 10:45AM–11:30AM CT | Meeting Room 208 B, Level 2
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation/Panel Session
Extended Reality (XR), which includes Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), is becoming a valuable tool for immersive learning in higher education. In this session, teams from Georgia Tech and the University of Michigan will share how XR is being used to support student success through hands-on development, instructional integration, and flexible access. Georgia Tech’s Academic and Research Technology team engaged undergraduate assistants over several semesters to experiment with XR tools, create demonstrations, and reflect on challenges related to real-world classroom and lab applications. At the University of Michigan, XR experiences are co-designed by faculty and the Center for Academic Innovation to align with specific learning outcomes. Student Fellows play a key role in development and testing, contributing to projects that enhance understanding across disciplines. Together, the institutions will share student-driven models, faculty partnerships, and lessons learned from creating XR experiences that are immersive, intentional, and adaptable across diverse learning environments.
